Hermanus will see the return of the 3-day Hi-Tec Walkerbay Xtreme, taking place between 29 April and 1 May 2017, and the town is buzzing with excitement over the long weekend’s action.
Featuring 11 thrilling events over three days – together with a Big Six Xtreme where a select few will compete for the fastest time across the 18km run, 17km trail run, MTB criterium, triathlon, open water swim, and swim-run-jump – the Walkerbay Xtreme is the only event of its kind in South Africa.
Secure your entry into your favourite event, and rub shoulders with some of the best athletes in their respective fields, including triathlon champ and coach Vicky van der Merwe, Xterra warrior Lieuwe Boonstra, “Everest Challenge” MTBer Wayde Finch, long distance swimmer Arafat Gatabazi and Olympic triathlete Mari Rabie, who will lead the HI-TEC Black Mamba Team as she shows off her mountain bike skills in the Urban Xtreme
The multisport format of the Walkerbay Xtreme means that athletes and supporters have the opportunity to spend a long weekend in Hermanus during a time of year that is not traditionally known as tourist high-season, which will also have a significant economic impact on the town and local business.
