Starting in the Old Harbour precinct, the Valley Xtreme MTB Challenge will take a ride from sea to heaven and back.

The trails were originally purpose built for the Cape Epic, but have since been expanded for some seriously awesome riding! Throw together 1,300 m of climbing (long route), exhilarating vineyard trails, technical terrain and sweet single track snaking along the Onrus River, and you are set to enjoy a MTB Challenge of epic proportions while being rewarded with unbeatable views.

The trails are diverse and can be enjoyed by all levels of skill and fitness. However, we advise you to only enter the 55km race if you are an experienced and skilled mountain biker.

PRIZE PURSE: To qualify for a share of the R20 000 total MTB prize purse, riders must:

  • Participate in the Valley Xtreme MTB Challenge (any distance)
  • Participate in the Urban Xtreme
  • Finish both events

  1. For any matter not covered in these rules, the rules of IAAF shall apply.
  2. The instructions of race officials must be obeyed at all times.
  3. The minimum age for participation is 8-10 years old accompanied by an adult on the day the race starts.
  4. Each entrant is responsible for ensuring that they are healthy and fit enough to participate in an event of this nature.
  5. The event is a foot race and the entire distance must be covered unaided and on foot.
  6. Each runner must display the race number at all times on their outer garment, worn on their upper half and fixed to the chest.
  7. Race numbers must be worn as issued and may not be cut, folded or obscured in any way. The race number may NOT be altered or perforated at all.
  8. Participants must adhere to the designated route and may not take short cuts.
  9. Any participant who exits the route for any reason must return to the route at the same point from which they exited.
  10. The Race Organisers reserve the right to modify the route at short notice.
  11. Littering and damage to the environment will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
  12. Any offense noted should be reported to the Race Referee. Offenders may be disqualified.
  13. All containers and packaging must be carried and only disposed of at the official support stations or the Finish.
  14. Participants are expected to show courtesy to other users on the route. Give way to faster participants (overtaking) and the general public.
