26 – 28 APRIL 2019
SPORTS ADVENTURE FESTIVAL FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
It was a double deal for Xterra World Champ – and European, Asian & African 70.3 Half Ironman Champ – Bradley Weiss, as well as Stellenbosch tri coach and triathlon star Vicky van der Merwe, who both won the inaugural Walkerbay Xtreme MTB Triathlon, hot on the heels of their Sprint Triathlon win earlier in the morning.
Standings Updated to 29 April 2018: The Big 6 Xtreme requires an athlete to complete the six premier events that form part of the HI-TEC Walkerbay Xtreme. Earning points based on their performance in these events (a percentage, relative to that of the leading Big 6 Xtreme participant), these athletes compete for top honours over the course of four days.
The 2018 Walkerbay Xtreme Open Water Swim returned with another stunning day in the ocean, as skins and wetsuit swimmers braved the long 2.5km stretch between the New and Old Harbour. This year, the event also saw the introduction of a new distance – the shorter 600m swim within the Old Harbour for those who want the challenge of an ocean swim without the commitment of a long distance.
The See en Sand Swim-Run-Jump is unique in the sense that it is the only race of its kind in the world. While swim-run races are gaining popularity across the globe, the Walkerbay Xtreme See en Sand Swim-Run-Jump also incorporates a daring 18m cliff jump off the iconic Dreunkrans, nestled between the Old and New Harbours.
